CV Joints (Constant velocity joints) enable engine power to be transmitted along a rotating shaft through a variable angle in front wheel drive and 4X4 vehicles: They have a protective gaiter and fail because of wear or partial seizure leading to vibration like an unbalanced wheel at certain speeds; wear often starts when the gaiter splits and loses lubricating grease while allowing abrasive particles into the joint
